1.43 MOODS, MOODY -- PSYCHOLOGY ABUSE TERMS, CONCEPTS

==== Moods, Moody

MEANING: Temperamental; changeable states of emotion; often meaning depressed or angry moods.

RELEVANCE TO ABUSE: Everyone has moods, but abusive people are often moody. They may use their moodiness to keep the abused person from acting, such as,"Please don't do that today, I'm in a really bad mood."

PERSONAL NOTE FROM RICK DOBLE: Everyone has times when they are less receptive to criticism or arguments. When this happens it is okay to wait until they are more receptive. I have found that with some people the following can be bad times to approach: first thing in the morning or after waking up, before a first cup of coffee, when someone is stressed or sick or when a person is very tired.
