1.62 TYPE A PERSONALITY -- PSYCHOLOGY ABUSE TERMS, CONCEPTS

==== Type A personality

MEANING: Such people are driven, perfectionists, busy, impatient and often obsessed with time, money and dirt. These are the kind of people who moan and groan when stuck in a long line of traffic even though there is nothing they can do. They have a much higher risk of heart disease.

RELEVANCE TO ABUSE: While the impatience and the quick temper are similar to abuse, this is not a personality disorder, it is a personality type. Such a person will function well in high pressure jobs, for example, or situations where they are kept busy. Type A personalities can learn to tone down their behavior to suit their partner.
