1.12 MUTUAL ABUSE -- TYPES AND CATEGORIES OF ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR

==== Mutual Abuse

MEANING: The reciprocal abuse of a wife and husband or boyfriend and girlfriend.

MORE ABOUT MUTUAL ABUSE: This concept is quite controversial. While courts often treat the abused and the abuser equally with mutual court orders, advocates say that this just rewards the abuser and does not deal with the problem.

PERSONAL NOTE FROM RICK DOBLE: In my family there was mutual abuse. My father and stepmother argued constantly and became quite abusive as more liquor was poured and the evening wore on. During these times I would have been hard pressed to say who was the abused and who the abuser.
