1.34 ISSUES -- PSYCHOLOGY ABUSE TERMS, CONCEPTS

=== Issues

MEANING: A point of contention, a problem, a matter for concern. People will have individual issues that need to be addressed. These can be quite specific such as problems with how chores are done.

RELEVANCE TO ABUSE: While the word is general, it is also not critical. It is good to avoid loaded words when negotiating with an abuser. If you say to someone, "I have a problem with what you are doing," you might get a defensive response. However, if you say, "We have an issue we need to discuss," the response should be more cooperative.
