6.2 WILL YOU DEAL WITH BEING VERBALLY ABUSED?

Even if you decide that you are being verbally abused, you may decide to live with it, ignore it or hope it will get better.

Here are some reasons:

== #1. Will anyone believe you?

Since they are masters of deception, abusers may trick those around you and even themselves. Very angry ones may say that you are the crazy one and convince everyone else that this is true.

For example, my wife had everyone fooled. She presented herself as sweet, quiet, loving and fragile to my family and friends. However, at home, she showed me a very dark side that almost drove me to suicide, a dark side that even she did not realize. When I left her, my family was astonished.

== #2. It's going to be a lot of work and it may fail.

There is no denying this. Yes, it is a lot of work, psychological work, which is often the hardest kind. And there is a good chance that it may fail. Yet to do nothing is to live only half a life, a life unrealized and life that is being twisted by someone else, a life in which your own dreams are not possible.

== #3. I can live with it; it's not that bad.

This is a private decision and no one, not even a shrink has the right to tell you otherwise. You should, however, be aware of what you are doing and the decision you have made.

== #4. If I fail, it may mean the end of the relationship and I cannot bear that.

True, very true. You will have to decide if it is worth the risk and if you can handle it.
